Blest Are We

Our First Grade religion curriculum uses the text Blest are We. This text is based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and uses four “pillars” to teach our Catholic faith: what Catholics believe, how Catholics worship, how Catholics live, and how Catholics pray. It is a whole group, discussion-based program which allows students to share, listen to scripture, and offers real-life applications of the scripture message.

My aim with this program is to help your child develop as a child of God and become the best person they can be. At the beginning of each month you will receive one footprint for each week of that month. These footprints will be used to positively reinforce Christ-like behaviors within your child. Please observe your child at home and fill out a footprint, to send to school, when they demonstrate good behaviors such as: sharing, being patient, helping at home, being kind or considerate toward siblings or caring for others. Please fill
out one footprint per week, as you are able. If you need additional footprints, they can be found on our class website. Please include your child’s name on the back and have your child cut out the footprint. During our morning circle time each day we will acknowledge your child’s spiritual achievement and put their footprint in a basket by our prayer table.
